Duties
1. To join competent regulatory agencies in formulating, revising and supplementing legislation on financial and accountancy issues for real-life application and providing guidelines on accounting and auditing policies, regulations and standards;
2. To hold and participate in researches on financial, accounting and auditing sciences;
3. To advise on, criticize, and appraise the social effects of improvement and development projects in the fields of finance and accountancy as may be required;
4. To gather, unite and promote members for mutual support and encouragement in the upgrading of professional competency and skills.
5. To administer and control members’ professional activities and ethics; encourage and educate members to strictly abide by the laws and uphold the profession’s ethical values;
6. To participate in the holding of training courses and examinations for certification of public accountants and auditors and administer their professional practice as authorized by competent regulatory agencies;
7. To fulfill its tasks and duties as a VUSTA member; co-ordinate with domestic associations/societies of scientists and technicians and those of accountants in the region and across the world within the legal framework of Vietnam;

Name
The Association’s name is Hoi Ke toan va Kiem toan Viet Nam, which translates as Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors, or HKT or VAA in abbreviation.

Objectives
Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (hereinafter referred to as the Association) is a professional body of organizations and individuals involved in the accounting and auditing (accountancy) practice in Vietnam.
The Association operates with an aim to bring together and unite all organizations and individuals being involved in the accountancy practice in Vietnam towards the cause of developing the profession, upgrading practitioners’ skills and upholding their professional ethics for higher dedication to the country’s management of economic, financial issues and integration into the community of accountancy bodies in the region and across the world.
